COMMENTARY
Gerry Brady is the minister for economics and owner of the only functioning trade union. Not only will this bill squash any future progress in Titulias business development, but it is bringing us to a new era of the merger between corporations and the state. Gerry Brady is using the legislator to give his business, Titulian citizens union, special legal status over other businesses. If Gerry Brady wanted to set up a business to help with industrial disputes, then that would be fine, but now his business will have an unfair competitive advantage over others.
"Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power."
-Benito Mussolini
Other than this blatant move towards Fascism to benefit the elites in Titulia, lets have a look at the other freedoms Gerry Brady wishes to take away.
This bill says it will enforce the right for workers to negotiate wages collectively oppose to individually. However the current functioning businesses mostly negotiate wages individually, due to open free market. In the open free market, workers and employers are also allowed to negotiate collectively, if one does not agree to it then that employment contract will be void. Gerry Brady says employers can ask employees to waiver this new "right", but it does not say that in the bill, what is Gerry Brady hiding?
The says workers are free from forced labour, but is this including the courts? Is Gerry Brady suggesting fines, letters of apology and other punishments the court hands out, will be void after this bill? What is Gerry Brady doing?
"Equal pay for equal work for all employees", but how will this enforced? If two employees agree to a weekly wage, and one is more productive, can they sue their employer for more money?
"Everyone in Titulia has the right to work and to be payed a fair wage for their employ." Who decides what a fair wage is? America, Ireland and the UK have all witnessed trade unions protests over "fair wage", which have ended in destruction and murder. Is Gerry Brady giving his business the legal right to wage war against individuals?
"Any worker in Titulia has the right to work for more than one employer at the same time (excluding those in public employ)." Why exclude public sector workers? Why cannot, lets an editor for the Post, run a gambling casino at the same time, whats the harm? This bill will reduce the amount of businesses in Titulia, and take away rights from public sector workers. Gerry Brady wants to expand the government, yet take away rights from its employees? Is Gerry Brady just after everyone? Does this mean they cannot make money from the referral commission? Is Gerry Brady actively trying reduce immigration?
"Every employee has the right to not fear discrimination from their employer due to claims of unfair work practices." Who decides unfair work practices? Gerry Bradys private business?
"Any company or individual owner of a company in Titulia found to not comply with or accept any of these standards can be fined by the courts and repeated offenders can face further punishment." This makes the intend of this bill clear. Gerry Brady is trying to extort money from private citizens, and have his private business take a cut from the fines.
I am not going to comment on the consumers rights section of the bill, as it is absurd to lob consumer and workers rights together as one subject.
I must reiterate the importance of abstaining from this bill. Will be giving the government, the courts, and Gerry Bradys private business new powers over us, and we do not even know what they will be. It is a good point to note, that all the famous dictators came into power along with the trade union movement.
Free markets, free minds.
