THE RNC MANIFESTO
While all other sciences have advanced, that of government is at a standstill - little better understood, little better practiced now than three or four thousand years ago. -US President John Adams
These words from the Second President of the world's longest-lasting Democracy in history highlight that all the progress previously and currently occurring in the political arena amounts to little more than tiny steps forward. These steps are part of what Alexis de Tocqueville described as a tidal wave that would soon sweep the whole of the globe. “To wish to stop democracy would then appear to be to struggle against God himself, and it would only remain for nations to accommodate themselves to the social state that Providence imposes on them.” However, they also yield what sDr. Francis Fukuyama describes as the “End of History,” where Classical Liberal(Western) values will slowly encroach the world, making us blind materialists in a post-modern era. It is our duty to humanity to embrace the virtues of democracy, while preserving a vigilance to purge it of its vices.
The Republican National Committee is a Titulian party that seeks to take a hold of the future through progress and faith in the individual's ability to develop to their full potential. We reject the forces of ignorance and stagnation; we support, philosophically and pragmatically, an agenda for growth and innovation. The progress we seek cannot be limited to discussions of technology and economics, though these are lofty and acceptable goals. We seek to have greater discourse and progress on those aspects of what makes a Democratic Citizen, chiefly Tolerance, Active Participation, Information, and State Support. Tolerance is the bedrock of a society that is built on in a democratic society, lest we yield to a Tyranny of the Majority that is difficult to distinguish from “La Terreur.” Active Participation, which is an endemic problem within the Republic, is absolutely essential for the continued existence and functioning of a Democracy. Without the presence of an informed citizenry, arbitrariness (the key problem of autocratic regimes) becomes just as present as in any dictatorship or ruling junta. Finally, if the populace has no confidence in its State to achieve even the most basic political outcomes, then it will quickly become useless and irrelevant to the society as a whole.
Res publica, the Latin basis for the term “Republic,” has been translated many different ways; however, our key understanding is “of the people.” The Government gains its legitimacy and power from the consent of the governed. In our current case, this is limited to the President and the General Court – both of which rightly have to come before the Citizen Legislature for their approval or disapproval.
The term Nation is simply a unit of people bound together by common history, values, or language. Titulia is a chance to expand and test the limits of what can unite peoples. Our goal is to seek those who are willing to become “Titulians” - a phrase that takes on its own definition and meanings. There is power in words, and we wish to generate a State that represents the common values of its people. Titulia is still fledgling in its history, even by the standards of Democracies, so we must unite on principles and forge ahead on a path for a bright future.
As to being a Committee, we seek to be a broad party that seeks its membership for guidance and advice. We wish to bring forth innovative ideas and unite for the good of the whole, while ensuring that those freedoms and values we hold dear are sought for with intelligence and truth.
