BREAKING: Matthews shows up at hearing

President Norton's (LRP) nominee for Associate Justice of the General Court, James Matthews, has arrived at his confirmation hearing, the RNC Daily reports. Mr. Matthews, who just finished service as a Special Prosecutor on the matter of the former Vice President OwenMerry's impeachment, has begun to answer the questions posed by the citizen legislature. Mr. Matthews currently is a member of the Liberal Republican Party.

Reaction among the citizen legislature in general has been diverse to the nomination. From the thoughts of Renee Buchanan (LRP), who says that "Jim would be a great judge..." to other, less optimistic opinions, this confirmation process has not been smooth sailing.

Several other legislators have risen in opposition to the nominee's record within the Republic. Former President Gerry Brady (SDP) stated that Mr. Matthews time in the Republic "has in effect lead to whining, moaning, playing the victim, making fanciful accusations based on a sense of martyrdom, being involved in almost half of all litigation against fellow citizens in the states history and promising the moon and delivering nothing on his frankly stupendously stupid 100,000 Tollar Library which never so much as seen a brick built."

Current Linardist Party President William D. Money claimed that Mr. Matthews "has a history of overstepping his boundaries, a dangerous quality for justice." Showing that opposition to this nominee for Associate Justice of the General Court is not coming from any one sector of the populace.

The vote stands at 6 in favor and 9 against confirmation. The Republican National Committee members have remained largely silent on the issue, perhaps due to the breakdown of the RNC-LRP Coalition last week. Deputy Leader Avaram has gone on record as stating that he has voted against confirmation.
